KYOCERA Fineceramics Europe GmbH enters the Medical Ceramic Ball Head Market with the creation of the new company KYOCERA Fineceramics Medical GmbH

Mannheim, 9. April 2024. Kyocera stands for progress and innovation in order to make life easier for everyone. This also means that the company is constantly evolving and driving this development by investing in new facilities and locations. Therefore, KYOCERA Fineceramics Europe sets another milestone in Europe by establishing a new company with the name KYOCERA Fineceramics Medical GmbH (KFMG). This new company is part of KYOCERA Fineceramics Europe GmbH to pursue its expansion and growth strategy.

In doing so, the company will be focusing on the production of high-quality ceramic ball heads that are primarily used in hip prostheses. For this reason, a new production site will be set up in the greater Stuttgart area. Sales and customer contact as well as support will be handled jointly by the Kyocera Medical Division in Japan and KYOCERA Fineceramics Medical GmbH in Europe.

The creation of the latest company is part of the company’s long-term growth strategy. This strategy let to achieving a number of important milestones in recent years:

  • In 2019, Kyocera achieved the Mannheim-based Friatec GmbH as well as the Selb-based H.C. Starck Ceramics GmbH in order to meet the rising demand for fine ceramic components used in the industrial machinery. The two production sites in Mannheim and Selb have also been successively expanded in line with the company's targets.
  • In April 2023, Kyocera consolidated its existing fine ceramics business into the new KYOCERA Fineceramics Europe GmbH. In doing so, the fine ceramics units as well as the production sites in Mannheim and Selb were combined in an independent company under the roof of KYOCERA Europe GmbH. Furthermore, the fine ceramics division of KYOCERA Europe GmbH and its employees were also integrated into KYOCERA Fineceramics Europe GmbH.

Due to the fact that fine ceramic solutions are experiencing rising demands, we are glad that we can expand our fine ceramic presence in the important medical field and contribute to an innovative and sustainable future in Europe and worldwide“, says Kunihiko Ueki, President of KYOCERA Europe GmbH.

In addition to his function as President of KYOCERA Fineceramics Europe GmbH, Dr Carsten Russner holds the function of President of KYOCERA Fineceramics Medical GmbH. The management of the new company will be completed by Dr Fabian Preuss and Uwe Kemmer.

The delivery of the first manufactured products is planned for the first quarter of 2026.
